April 2008 - In honor of New York City's 34th Annual Macy's Flower Show, CND created conceptual nail styles to accompany the abstract theme, 7 Wonders of Fashion, that was displayed in the windows of Herald Square. The windows featured more than a million flowers from over 30,000 colorful species of plants and trees from six continents.
For the second year in a row, New York-based fashion designers, Phillip and David Blond, were commissioned to create seven garden-themed couture looks for the Macy's flagship windows. They called upon CND's skilled artisans and Fashion Week backstage veterans, Kristina Baune and Lulu Cooper, to develop nails that were representative of the following decades: 1800's, Roaring 20's, 1950's, Swinging 60's, 1970's, 1980's and the Future. The conceptual nails adorned the fingertips of the mannequins showcasing the ensembles made entirely of silk flowers in the six Broadway-facing windows that were seen by millions.
In her well-stocked "nail" workshop in Minnesota, Kristina found inspiration from the intricate sketches and concept boards developed by the Blonds. After the long-distance collaboration, Lulu Cooper took charge of ensuring perfect presentation during the display window's installation.
